About Saji PK
Dr. Saji Purathepparambil Kunjappan has over three decades of experience in the data center and IT industry. He began his career with a public sector research organization under the Department of Electronics, Government of India, and has since held CxO/senior executive roles across leading technology companies such as Sify, Airtel, and Tata Communications.
Currently serving as the Director of Infrastructure Operations for Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa (APMEA) at Amazon Web Services (AWS), Saji joined the company in September 2019. Based in Singapore, he leads a team of more than 2,500 professionals across 30 countries. His responsibilities span the safety, security, availability, and capacity delivery of AWS’s data center infrastructure throughout the APMEA region. He is also responsible to AWS’s Edge/Transit sites and all the services infrastructure outside of the core DCs across the globe. Under his leadership, AWS’s infrastructure footprint in the region has seen significant expansion—representing multi-billion-dollar investments across multiple AWS Regions, contributing meaningfully to local economies.
Saji has deep expertise in building and scaling large-scale data center infrastructure. His work includes enabling highly scalable applications and services that deliver measurable business value across enterprise verticals, while also driving innovation in cloud-based delivery models.
Before joining AWS, Saji was the Global Vice President for Cloud and Data Center Services at Tata Communications, where he led a team of over 500 global professionals. His portfolio included global delivery and operations of data center and digital infrastructure, including cybersecurity services,
with a strong focus on operational excellence and multicultural team leadership.
Saji holds a Doctorate in Technology Innovation from the American Management University. In addition to his technical leadership, he is also a published author. His insights are frequently featured in industry journals, and he is currently working on his third book, titled “When the Winds
Shift: Navigating Life’s Inevitable Changes” scheduled for launch in Jan 2026.
